Doug,

Thanks for that information! Having a few SM-19's mixed in with the SM-16 and
SM-18 would be really cool. BB 25 shows this very thing and the height
difference is really apparent. I'll look for the Athern UP stock car at this
weekend's train show.

Rich

Rich, Interestingly the following message was posted on the MSTL list at the
same time you are looking for information on modeling a SM-19 stockcar.

The "Athearn" stock car is a U.P. 1950s car.

Yes the diagonal panel roof is a mirror image, but if the guy is on a
limited budget. Tell him to cut it down put either a Intermountain Murphy
flat panel, or a Branchline Diagonal panel roof

to create a CB&Q SM-19B. Yes he would have to mill off the lettering panels
and create new ones, wouldn't that be a small project to learn the skills of
using a Dremel tool.

Proto photos can be purchased through various dealers, the CBQ Historical
society, even purchase their "Burlington Bulletin # 25" which is a tome on
the Qs stockcars and operations.

He could even carve off the cast on hand grabs and apply individual grabs
furthering his "modeling" knowledge. Painting and decaling would be an
additional phase.

As I always thought the Athearn was a UP car, only, I have not tried this
kitbash. Might be worth looking into, as it would provide a plastic CB&Q 40'
stockcar.
