Bill-
Four Stackers made it into service at Clyde, Western Avenue and Union Station.
There were variations in the front radiators on Q VO1000s too.... curved and
flat... and, while it hasn't been mentioned in any railfan publications, I
believe there are two different style cabs.... one with a rather flat curved
roof and the other with a more rounded style.
This deserves more research (photos, loco assignment sheets, builder's list /
roadnumbers by type) but my dance card is already overloaded.

John,
The Q assigned the VO-1000 to two locations; Kansas City and Chicago.
The four stack exhaust arrangement was applied in an attempt to solve
an engine overheating problem. A number of RRs operating VO-1000s,
made such modifications. On the Q, for some reason, the modifications
were only made to those locomotives assigned to Kansas City. Most if
not all of the Chicago units continued to operate with the original
single stack arrangement until they were traded in in the mid '60s.
