Gerald- Hadn't thought of the reverse impact at Forreston. Quite so. My fascination, however, continues to be the LONG period of time that the IC used the CB&Q to get into Chicago from Iowa..... dating back to the Chicago & Aurora and them both using the C&GU / St.Charles Air Line cutoff before the Chicago-Aurora CB&Q line was built! (so that makes it approximately sometime before 1864 until1899!!!) To my knowlege no photos have ever turned up of IC trains operating over the CB&Q trackage rights. Of course, the main problem is the general lack of photos of any kind on the CB&Q prior to 1900 in the subject areas.....
