List,

A mind is a terrible thing to waste... I see we (indluding me!) discussed some
of this back in March. I still am looking for the track plan for Mt. Morris,
though. I'm copying Leo's
post from that time hoping to get a little more discussion going:

Rich,

The Oregon/Mt Morris Job switched the sand plant. There was one trip a day to
the plant to pull loads and set mtys. Getting time on the main was
difficult. Main reason for the recent extension of the pass up to resin and
sand plant. Eastbounds were usually left on the east end of the pass and wests
on the west end of the CB&N. The usual s/o for 181/353 was on the west end of
the Mt Morris main or things could be reversed.

The wayfrt(Oregon,Chadwick Turn) usually handled the Kable cars to Aurora
depot. The P/U would haul the eastbound loads and 181 would take the wests.
There was a Redimix plant at Mt Morris and if my memory is correct an elevator.

Leo

I was talking with Mike Spoor last night and he said that in the 1950's the
Oregon Turn would handle the sand plant transfer, while the Oregon switcher
would do the "city job" and run up to Mt. Morris. He would have to be back in
time to meet the Oregon Turn and switch out loads. Does this sound reasonable?
With more switching in the town of Oregon, back in the '50's I could see this
division of labor.

On another interesting note, he told me about the varied motive power that
could turn up on the Oregon Turn in the early '50's, including O1A's and the
cow and calf unit!

Rich

Subject: [CBQ] Mt. Morris Track Plan

List,

I searched the files sectiion and didn't find anything on Mt Morris. I'm
interested in the industries served (around 1950) and a layout of the tracks.
Can anyone help out?

Thanks,

Rich
