Rupert,

I have a set of the first freight car diagram books printed by the BN after the
merger. Although I cannot find an actual date in the flat cars diagram book, I
believe it was printed in 1970. Unfortunately, it does not list the previous
owner's class for any of the flat cars.

I did find CB&Q 91950 in the book, however. According to the diagram it was
built in 1969 by Maxson. In the diagram it looks like a normal flatcar, but a
note on the diagram says "TRANSFORMER LOADING". The car weighs 63700 lbs and
has a capacity of 154000 lbs. The car has 5/8" steel plate flooring, and 14
stake pockets per side. It is 66'-7" over pulling faces, with a 60'-0" inside
length. Here is where there might be an error in the diagram, however. The
diagram states that the car is 46'-9-1/4" over strikers, 42'-5" over end sills,
and on 32'-7" truck centers. Clearly those last 4 dimensions don't seem to
correlate with a 60' flat car!!! The car is equipped with 20" keystone
cushioning - I don't know if that has anything to do with the length
differences. Also, the diagram clearly is not designed to be a true
representation of the car since it shows 18 stake pockets. Perhaps someone else
can clear up the seeming inconsistency.
