Nelson, Good pics of early freight cars are hard to find. I am not sure when end of car data was moved to the right side but am sure it was done by WWI. Doors were generally just siding but some had a frame around them. Door tracks were covered with either a board or a sheet metal cover. By laterals if you mean the boards that run from the center to the edge then generally not. Most just had a grab iron on the roof. Here is a shot of a St. L. K. & NW boxcar. http://www.uiowa.edu/~calvin/image/cpc1129.jpg If you are modeling 1907 you might check out the early rail group on yahoo, they cover anything before WWI. Generally light on Q coverage though. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EarlyRail/ Ken Martin On Sep 30, 2010, at 3:10 PM, Nelson Moyer wrote: > What was boxcar door and door track construction like in 1907? > > Were laterals used on running boards in 1907? > > I'd appreciate any information or references on boxcars circa 1907 > that > would help answer these questions. > > Nelson Moyer ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
