Roy,

I think some did. There is a photo in one book (one of Corbin's I
believe) that shows 9904 Pegaus on the DG turntable. It could be a
mid day turn and not an overnight stay. I don't know of a photo of an
"E" unit on the DG table, but I recall a photo of an "E" unit in the
yard coupled to a train. I am not home right now, so I can't search
my resources. My guess is that if "E" units laid over in DG, it
probably occurred in the last year of steam as it was being phased
out and not enough were left to protect the DG scheduled trains. I
believe that trains going to Aurora in the last couple of years were
all diesel powered.

Another question occurs to me. At least four hudsons were fitted with
large generators on the pilot deck for commuter service around 1950.
Nos. 3000 and 4001 were two of them. Where these locomotives assigned
to Aurora or DG trains? They may have been Aurora trains as I am not
sure that a hudson could fit on the DG turntable. I believe it was 85
feet.
