The Burlington was PERFECT. Come hell or high water, they GOT THE JOB DONE. And most times AT A PROFIT. That is why, in view of major structural changes to the US economy during the 1970s and later, it became the BURLINGTON Northern, and later, the BURLINGTON Northern Santa Fe, before renaming itself to BNSF, and finally (after a great run-up of stock price) getting bought out by Warren Buffet. There. THAT ought to stir up some lively conversation!!! PS: you DID note that they got out of the passenger business somewhere along the way, right?
