I took a gander at Google Maps and see that they have Orchard City Lake
labeled as well as Crystal Lake on the east side of the Mississippi. I have
uploaded the satellite image to my Yahoo photo album (go to the last album).
This is a great image showing not only the two lakes, where there were
obviously recreational clubs and stops for the Q, but it also shows several
things we've discussed on the list recently. Illinois Jct. and the Q's
Illinois Burlington to Quincy branch; Perkins Park and Bracewell Stadium in
the ravine that the AT&SF was eying prior to building through Ft. Madison;
and it shows why a levee break north of Gulfport causes so much havoc with
the Q's mainline.

Per pre-1929 TT's & the E-bd sked, Burlngton was MP 828 & just across the
Mississippi was Orchard City Club @ MP 830. Next east was Crystal Lake @ 831
& Lone Tree @ 834. A VERY unique footnote was that Orchard City Club was a
flag stop on SUNDAYS ONLY for the Chi-Burl local #11/22, Perhaps per the
station name it was indeed a 'park' used for picnic excursions, ball games,
etc? Being just 2 miles from Burlington, it had to be close to the E banks
of the Mississippi.
