The Hooppole, Tampico & Yorktown was featured in a Lucius Beebe book and indeed
used a lot of 2nd hand CB&Q equipment. It's only outside connection was with
the Q @ Tampico, birthplace of Pres. Ronald Reagan. A pic of the Q's Tampico
depot and one of the 1st Q train into Tampico are featured in Bud Linroth's
"Peavine" book.

Gerald was pushing the Pea Vine. Anyone heard of the Pumpkin Vine? I was
speaking with my sister in law who told me that her grandfather or great
grandfather worked for a railroad called the Hoophole. I think she meant the
Hooppole which connected the CB&Q to the C&RI from Hooppole, IL to Walnut
Junction. They apparently used CB&Q equipment as it was returned to them when
the railroad closed down in 1953. Use the link for a nostalgic trip. Read the
history and see the photo section. Lots of photos.
