Ex CB&Q SW900 9270 / BN 161 has been offered to the Boone and Scenic Valley
Railroad by a major grain company provided we can remove it from their property
within 30 days.
It's scheduled to be cut up for scrap very soon. We are trying to raise funds
to move it to Boone Iowa and restore it to operating condition. Right now the
big cost is the crane and moving. If we can raise 5K, we will be able to save
this ex CB&Q locomotive from the cutters torch. The long term plans for the
9270 would be to restore it to service and paint it in Q blackbird. It
currently has a blown main generator, but that can be fixed as additional funds
become available.
We are a nonprofit operating railroad museum run primarily by volunteers. Any
