Bill, All of the Q GP7/9s were delivered in the black scheme with "Way of the Zephyrs" and Everywhere West" on the flanks. The red scheme was introduced in the late 50s with the 1959 order of SD24s being the first units delivered in the red scheme (EMD anyways). The majority of the GP7/9s were repainted into the red scheme, but a few did survive into the BN era with the original paint scheme. Bryan J. There were a lot of photos I hadn't yet seen. But I could locate only one shot of #605 and that was a 3/4 shot of the left front, but none of the cab face. So, if your book has one, I'd love to see it when you get the chance. In the mean time I am looking for any books that I can find on the CB&Q system. Some are quite pricey. Also, I was reviewing all of my GP 7 and 9 photos. Were any GP 9s delivered in the "Way of the Zepher" paint scheme? It occurred to me that I have no pictures of these.
