Hello All Just got off the telephone with retired CB&Q Rock Island switchman
Earl Behrensmeyer who worked in the Quad Cities from April 1948 until the late
1980's The Dri-line worked the East Moline Plant and set the combines on CB&Q
transfer tarcks located around the Milw-Q diamond at East Moline. An old CB&Q
Engineering Department Map from 1932 shows which tracks each railroad could use:
DRI&NW and CMSTP&P deliver to the CB&Q on tracks 2 and 27
CB&Q delivers to DRI&NW on tracks 5, 8 and sometimes on 6
CB&Q delivers to CMSTP&P on track 7
This map is reproduced on page 104 of the Pea vine book. A job called the
advance transfer went to work In Rock Island around 3:30 PM. and gathered up
the IH tractors from Rock Island and the combines from East Moline and took
them to Barstow for movement to Galesburg.
The IH Tractor works at Rock Island was switched by both the Dri-line and the
Q. The Dri-line tracks were on the river (North) side and they primarily set
materials into the plant. The Q had 4 or 5 short tracks on the South side of
the plant that only held about 5 cars each and they handled primarily the
finished tractors.
The Case Plant at Bettendorf was switched solely by the Dri-line who pulled the
implements and took them to Myrtle Street in Davenport (Called by some
Marquette Strret Yard.) The CB&Q afternoon transfer would go to Davenport 1st
thing and bring these loads back to Rock Island. Hope this helps.

What about the IH Plant in East Moline, and the IH Farmall Works in Rock
Island, both were on the DRI Line, weren't they? What about the Deere plant in
Dubuque? Also the Case Plant in Bettendorf on the DRI line?
