It was located at Lincoln. Here's a link to a article in the Firemen's
magazine about their lodge meeting.

Google also brought up an article about an expelled member using his card to
get benefits from another lodge in Washington.

I recently acquired a 'card' issued in 1889 to a CB&Q Fireman who had left his
job with the Burlington during the strike of 1889. Apparently the Bro. of Loco
Engineers & Bro. of Loco. Firemen issued these cards to mbrs in good standing
so they might get aid from 'Brothers' on other RR's since they were
out-of-work. Would one of you know where Beehive Lodge #179 was? The fireman
was W. P. Cunningham who was issued the card march 26, 1889 - it was good for
90 days. Tks!
PS - for those less familiar with RR labor groups, railroads were unique in
that most organized labor belonged to "Brotherhoods" organized by Lodge, NOT by
"Unions" organized by Locals. These included all the Crafts & Operating emps
inc. Maint of Way, Pullman Porters, etc. The only other major labor group I
can think of off the top of my head that was also a Brotherhood rather than a
union was the Carpenters & Joiners.
Belonging to a RR Brotherhood "in the day" was far different than joining a
union such as the Teamsters, Mineworkers or Steelworkers as it was far more
fraternal and involved an initiation and provided benefits to widows &
orphans. There are a number of good books written by RR brotherhoods providing
their histories but I do not have a list of the Lodges on the CB&Q; i.e. which
ones in which cities.

Subject: [CBQ] Re: CB&Q commuter cars
Only three will have "Burlington" applied, all the rest will have "BNSF
Railway".
The three Burlington cars are:
742
773
786
The two so far with BNSF Railway lettering:
750
757
