Mark,
I might strongly advise you to get Burlington Bulletin #7 available for $ 5
from the Burl. route Historical Society and
which is all about Class XM32 Box Cars!

If my memory is still good, all the retainer that I saw were located between
the ladder and the hand brake. That way the brakeman could reach the retainer
without reaching around the hand brake. The air line to it ran straight down
the end of the car and did a 90 under the carbody to the brake valve. Also I
later years the handbrakes were relocated to the lower position. When that was
done the retainer was located along the side sill close to the brake valves and
it would be stenciled on the side sill marking the retainers location.

series CBQ 18400-18699. First, were these cars built with brake adjusters? I
have a photo of CBQ 18682 which suggests it may have a Universal Rotary Brake
Adjuster, but the photo isn't conclusive. Second, does anyone have a photo of
the b-end of any of these cars that they could share? I'd like to know the
position of the air line to the retainer valve next to the handbrake Any help
is appreciated.
