The Q would sometimes make arrangements for a man with a foot issue or
injury to serve in limited services.
Sometimes this back fired as anyone familiar with a guy nicknamed "Geep"
will attest.

On the other hand I recently communicated off list with a relative of a man
injured in service who spent the balance of his carreer in baggage
service. The most interesting part was finding the file in the Aurora lodge
papers
where the number #1 man in baggage seniority agreed to go the bottom of
the list and transfer his seniority to the injured man so he could work
baggage. It took awhile for the lodge members and the Q to sign off on the
arrangement but to my knowledge it was unique and a true sign of what union
brotherhood once meant.
