Years ago (late 50's or early 60's) GN had several cars get loose together on 
the Dakota mainline.  Blown by the wind, North Dakota wind is strong and never 
stops.   If my memory serves me well, it was reported they reached 90mph.  Had 
to be chased by a loco(fast)  North Dakota trackage is as flat as most floors, 
maybe flatter, also straight.   Also if you stand next to welded-rail mainlines 
and listen to coal trains and double stacks you know how quiet rolling freight 
can be.
