I have both. And both a re very nice. The BLI unit has a couple of things to
be aware of. The pilot does not come with doors which would allow you to close
it and remove the front coupler. The other is that the diaphragm on the rear
is rather basic when compared to the Proto unit.

Does anyone own (or are otherwise familiar enough with) both a BLI E7 and a
Walthers (Proto2000) E unit that can offer a comparison? They both offer a
version of an E7 with SS panels now.

It is really a shame that Walthers has not done a large number board Q E7A.
Hopefully they will get not only the steam generator right, but release this as
a large number board unit. ANyone have any idea why they might not have done
one already?

Hobby Show last weekend, it is also pictured in their November 2009 Flyer. It
appears that Walthers has made a mistake on the rendering of the steam
generator exhaust outlet. The Q E7's in the unit number series 9929A,B-9936A,B,
9937A and 9949 all had 2 steam generators with their exhaust outlets on the
right and left, 4 foot 1 inch from the pulling face of the rear. That series
also had the large angled number boxes. The Walthers' model shows only one
exhaust centered approx. 9 feet from the rear. The Walthers' arrangement would
be correct for the Q series E7's 9916A,B-9924A,B. That series also had the the
small, side mounted number boxes. My sources for this info. comes from down on
photos and the Q locomotive diagram E7, page 37. The diagram can be seen on
page 40 of the "Burlington Bulleton" No. 10. So my question is, will the
production model come with two steam generator exhaust stacks? This is
otherwise a very fine model. Regards...Jerry Albin
