If my memory hasn't failed the discussions I recall with the "old heads"
was that once the Geeps were being transported on the Oregon Turn instead of
the former method of using passenger trains: the cars were placed behind
the w/c of the Oregon Turn which would then "run" to Aurora where the cars
were cut off and set over by the Aurora switch job to one of the night
dinkies for delivery to Chicago.
My reading of the UTU files, other discussions and material reveal the 2
night dinky jobs were real workhorses. Per Bill Burnell the one job even got
w/f rate due to all the material cars being handled.
Here's just a sample Eastbound: the REA car from Aurora, the wheel car,DH
shop cars, cars from Pepperridge Farm at Downers picked up off the house track
behind the depot.
Westbound the REA car for Berwyn,LaGrange,Aurora, the wheel car,DH shop cars
