Eversharp was a pencil company that pioneered the inexpensive mechanical pencil
and then moved into fountain pen manufacturing to carve out a large niche in
the market as a less expensive pen than Parker or Waterman fountain pens.
Parker's doufold fountain pen put Eversharp at a disadvantage since the doufold
was much easier to fill with ink using a piston system. Eversharp invested in
filling innovations to help keep its share of the lower priced fountain pen
market and ran into head on competition with Scripto and Sheaffer. Eversharp
fountain pens continued to be made into the era of ball point pens. I first
used a fountain pen in grade school and found it in a drawer in January, along
with an Eversharp and a Parker that my grandfather left me.

I'm sure I qualify! These are from an OLD radio program called "Doctor
I.Q." Eversharp was (is?) a brand of mechanical pencils and fountain pens.
They sponsored the show. Which leads to another question: You do know what
a fountain pen is, don't you?
