Why do they need 300 feet of clearence! River barges are not that tall or
the towboats that push them. If the 300' means wide they will not fit thru
the locks( the American Queen bearly fits at 85' of beam). .

BTW, if anyone is interested, "Mainline Modeler" magazine had a fine
pair of articles on the replacement of the P&PU bridge in their May-
June 1985 issues.
