(this is a repost because in the original I used a word that the filter
caught, rather than break the theme I've reissued)
I found time books from R.K. Johnson from the 1950s 60s at the Robert
Bennett event in Aurora yesterday. RK was an Aurora div brkmn who some of us on
this list could tell some stories about but what I learned paging thru his
timebooks really enlightened me.
RK must have really liked the Rockfalls w/f as he worked it pretty much
solid through the 50s and some years in the 60s with a rare venture elsewhere.
As Don Hansen and JF Schmid have previously told me the job did all or
most of the short work on the way to RF from Eola and then "ran" on the return
trip. Ordered for between 6:45 and 8:00 at Eola the job would be on duty
between 14-16 hours upon arrival at Rockfalls. They returned usually ordered
for 7:45AM and would generally work an hour or two OT returning to Eola.
On and off Weds would be the Eola-Earville turn day. It generally was an
early quit day but could run to 12 hours.
Power is generally shown as an NW2(92xx) but for a while the TRs were
present(94xx). They often drew a geep on Weds.
