Hi Gerald,

The meet flyer stated that a list of local sights and activities would be
available at registration on Saturday. If the organizers already have it
assembled, I would greatly appreciate its posting to the list. With any luck,
I will be off on Friday and plan to look around at West Chicago area sights.
The organizers' list would certainly be a great help, if it is not too much
trouble.

Gerald, what are your favorite West Chicago area sights? What do you recommend
as "must-see' RR attractions? What day will you be in town?

My only visit was during the 1999 Aurora meet. I saw the Turner Junction depot
museaum (& its O-scale diorama), the waycar (now in Mundelein, IL), and a
rather large model of a Q steam locomotive. I also had driven along the tracks
(as best as I could) on both sides of the river. I saw the waycar at
Mooseheart. Batavia has a museum in their depot with a fully restored wood
waycar. Of course, Aurora has the Walter Payton (Q) RoundHouse Brewery &
Restaurant and the Transportation Center with several RR historical plaques.
This is a bit far from West Chicsgo; the locomotive Pioneer was the first in
Chicago and also on the Q and is preserved in the city of Chicago at the the
Chicago Historical Museum.

Thanks in advance,

Bill
