Russ, General Mills at West Chicago is running as it has since 1957 or so. They just don't use rail except for bulk inbound materials. It was in the early 80's under trucking deregulation that the plant cemented over the tracks in the distribution center and converted those areas to truck docks. There is a rumor that the plant will close in next 3 years or so. When General Mills bought Pillsbury they got a brand new plant in Geneva that they immediately closed so they can go to that new facility anytime. My neighbor has worked at the West Chicago plant for the last 10 years. Hard to picture those scores of box cars coming out of there every day any more. 3 jobs a day,6 days a week and extras on Sunday. All gone. Leo Phillipp **************Worried about job security?
