A "healthy pile". Please keep in mind that there were at
least one dispatcher, and probably more, that did not want "piles" to be
sent with certain train crews. Bet you did not know that there may have been
other orders that you were not supposed to read. Depots at Aurora with
Dinkies were the most common ones. Middle of the day they might have wanted
to get sent but not after about 7:00 pm.
Now tell me how a new operator was supposed to know this
in advance. I learned but I never liked it. See rule 949.
"All" did not mean "all". I still do not understand it.
I do remember one Trainmaster that also liked the same
ideas. Was at La Crosse. I was old enough by that time
and just ignored it and did it correctly. When time went
by he got fired.
