Finally remembered, while home, to look thru my Annual Reports between your
'bookend' years of 1917 & 1925. Each yr there is mention of some trackage
being given ABS, sometimes by Division, sometimes by location (Mendota to
Galesburg) It would appear the C&I portions were "18-21. However the A.R.'s
are sometimes optimistic. One yr it states 70 some miles of a planned 300
miles was done with the rest to be done next spring yet the yr after indicates
only 66 miles were completed instead of the 200+. In any case, ABS work was
part of ea A.R.'s listed "Improvements" thru & after WWI. When I get a chance
I'll check Overton's "Burlington Route". Gerald
Does anyone know when automatic block signalling was installed on the C&I? My
"bookend" dates are 1917, when ICC valuation maps do not show block signals,
and a 1925 employee timetable, which states that automatic block signalling was
in effect from Aurora tower to Savanna. Thanks for your help.Bob Herrick
