Lenny,

Mike Spoor / Morning Sun Books' "CB&Q in Color, Volume 4" has some
photos of company trucks.

Page 36 has a 1969 photo of the white Girad, IL depot with an orange
truck on the side. The front and right side of the truck are
visible. The (IH ?) truck has a four door cab, a flashing emergency
light and spot light on the roof, an ecnlosed bed on the rear, BR
herald on the front door, and possible Hyrail wheels under the front
bumper.

I also wonder if the Q had dark green trucks as described below.

Page 51 has two 1967 photos of the Kewanee, IL depot with a fewn
vehicles parked alongside it. There is a side view of a dark green
truck which is partially obscurred by an automobile parked between
the truck and the photographer. The dark green truck has a four door
cab, a spot light on the roof (but no flashing emergency light), and
a stake-sided open bed. There may be a barrel in the bed. The rear
bumper area doe not appear to have any Hyrail wheels (the front
portion is obscurred). The presence or absence of a BR herald can
not be observed due to the automobile.

Pages 76-77 have a 1963 photo from Dave Weber at Montgomery, IL of a
white shed and an F3 freight train (the sheep pen elevator and Lyons
Metal Products are in the background). A dark green Chevy truck in
parked in front on the shed in a head-on view. It appears to be a
two door cab with a spot light on top with an enclosed rear bed
There are no Hyrail wheels on the front. It is not possible to
determine if BR hearlds adorn the doors due to the head-on view.
There are partial views of yellow or orange speeder track vehicles in
the background.

Does anyone else conclusively know if the CB&Q had both orange and
dark green company trucks. If so, did the color represent any
special function or purpose ? (Hyrail / highway or highway only ?)

Thanks in advance.
