Feb 18th might have been a President's day weekend - or, more
precisely, Washington's birthday (2/22) at that point in time (pre
'76). Which meant a 3 or four day weekend, which meant that the CB&Q
was likely really pushing ski trips. There were several clubs that
took the DZ (or, more precisely, a section of same), taking up a car
or cars - in at least one case, the ski party's train was taken off
the #1 consist and taken on the D&RGW ski train. The Q was
extremely good at pushing special events and adding
passengers. Everything from fall color trips, to spring in the
Rockies promotions. And summer holidays, etc. etc.
