Skiers would have been a continuous business for the DZ. So to have such a
large train clearly using a lot of equipment from the yard means a lot of
special customers, probably groups making a special trip.
I wonder if there was a convention or something in Colorado Springs. The
reason why I am thinking The Springs is the unusual placement of SC19 adjacent
to the Colorado Springs cars instead of in front of the Chuckwagon, where it
normally travelled with the Denver cars.

Stephen,
Could it be possible that there was enough Skiing traffic to
make that possible? I really do not know if the time of year
make that much difference.

That was interesting that the Silver Repose was being used as a dormitory
car on 2nd #1. It means that three of the 4 DZ slumbercoaches were being
used on #1, leaving 1 for #10? What is interesting further is that Feb 18 is
off season meaning that the DZ normally would only carry 1 slumbercoach.
Where did the extra traffic come from to require 2 sections on this day?
Since the first section is a complete DZ with extra cars, it suggests the
second section was a special move, perhaps for Boy Scouts or a convention in
Denver or somewhere along the route. Also interesting is that SC19 is
located behind the Chuckwagon on this consist whereas it normally was
located in front of it until later in the summer of that year, when it was
relocated to behind the diner. Is SC19 part of the Colorado Springs section
on this run? Does this suggest that the group the second section was
carrying was destined to Colorado Springs and that SC19 was
carrying some members of that group? Obviously, the group was not one who
could generally afford to travel by Pullman Sleeping car as there are no
extra sleepers on that train.
Interesting.
