Seeing the photos just posted by Mile brought back a couple of memories
of other passenger car bodies. One is/was at the lake (can't remember
the name) located north of the hiway just west of Cambridge. Sits on
the hill as you enter the lake area and was in use as a residence.
(You fishermen will know the lake...great fishing!)
I seem to recall some old passenger car bodies sitting on the south
side of the old "Q" just a little bit east of McCook. Never did have
the opportunity to see them up close. During the days when I worked
for the BN I used to catch Amtrak in Lincoln around midnight and arrive
in McCook just about time to go work. Would return back to Lincoln on
Friday evening, "catching" a caboose ride.
I believe they could be seen from the hiway as well.
Does anyone on the list know if they are still there and their heritage?
