With Mike Spoor's help I scanned and burned to CD all the track charts for the
CB&Q both Lines East and West. I sold them at the Q meets to raise money for
IRM Diesel Dept working on the SD-24. I still have a few left and do not know
yet if I will make Oregon or not(Spring Meet)
I do know there is in the works a Bulletin article on this area

Steve,
Would you by chance have any more of the track charts further up the line
towards N. La Crosse. If so could you post them on the CB&Q yahoo group
site. I'd be interested in see other parts of this line. I'm also modeling
it.
Thanks,
Randy

Placed in the file section are photos of the Station Map for E Dubuque and
Galena Jct also the track charts for the same area. Four charts LX 54-57
which show the then IC trackage, alignment and layout. I think the tower
disappeared when the area was CTCed around '66-68 when the CTC was moved
from Aurora to House 9.
Guys use to talk about having to ride a motor car to work this tower.
Although I think there is a road back into the area. The CGW came down the
hill and joined the Q in using the IC to East Dubuque where E Cabin
controlled the crossovers and switches for the CGW and IC to go thru the
tunnel and across the Miss River

I have 2 questions about this branch line that hopefully someone on the
list can answer.
At Galena Jct. the branchline appears to cross the CGW on a diamond
after leaving the Q westbound main. Is this correct, and if so, was
the diamond in place up until the branch was abandoned in 1961?
At Galena, there was a tower at one time where Q line crossed the IC
main. Did this tower have a name, and when was it removed?
