It was '73 Leo I was still at Congress Park. All door box cars were great in a
derailment. Scattered the contents all over the ROW. I got rid of the cars in
the Compass system While working at Congress Park. The computer gave us the
cars even though they were destroyed.
One time I had a derailment in Mt. Pleasant Iowa right in the middle of the
college there. One of the cars had been picked up at Monmouth. A Manufactures
Railway insulated box load headed to Red Oak Iowa They buried the whole car.
What was shipped in MRS cars?

I dont believe the building on the south side of the mains at Belmont you
reference was ever a Q facility.

While it probably wasn't the "original" Belmont Ave depot, the one that was
between #2 and #3 mains was destroyed by #97 in 1973 or '74. #97 went on the
ground there and the pile of cars basically wiped out and then buried the
depot. When we went by about 16-20 hours later on #85 Hulchers backhoes were
digging a giant hole and dumping car parts and ladings into it. I believe from
time to time things like refrigerators, marine outboard motors, etc float to the
surface or are unearthed during an excavation.
They should find all kinds of interesting things when they set the footings
for the overpass.

Leo
