c. 1884 Sammuel Gross, a Chicago real estate developer, platted Grossdale, East
Grossdale, and West Grossdale.
As was common in those days, he agreed to build stations if the CB&Q would stop
their commuter trains at them.
Grossdale became Brookfield. The original station has been moved to the site
of the old town hall and restored.
East Grossdale was renamed Hollywood. Now is known also as "Zoo Stop" or
something equally bad. The Hollywood station was destroyed and not replaced
IIRC.
West Grossdale became Congress Park and is a separate municipality. The
Congress Park station was demonlished and not replaced.
