Charlie,
Thanks, but I was thinking of their ads in which PCM has undecorated
Phase 1 F3 A units also. Do you or anyone else know of any other source
for modeling F-2s? I do think Highliners (I think that is the correct
name) F unit shell kits can be used to model an F2. As you pointed out,
I was planning on pairing these with my Stewart FTs, and really only
want a dummy F2.

The PCM CZ F3s are Phase IIa ("Chicken Wire") units.
The F2 is outwardly identical to a Phase I F3, The CB&Q F2s were
purchased to allow
breaking up the four unit FT ABBA sets into FTAB F2A three unit
sets. They were delivered
drawbared back to back but AFAIK not operated that way.
The F2s were the only Burlington F units other than the FTs to
have the open or "freight" pilot.
All F3-F9 carbodies (C&S & FW&D each had a wreck rebuilt unit
furnished looking like an F9)
had the enclosed or "passenger" pilot that was used on some E7s
and all E8s and E9s on the Q.
