John:

In Holbrook & Lorenz's "Waycars of the CB&Q" (1978?), there is a endnote
that says waycar 14151 got the Allied trucks in 1960 and was converted to
the side door in 1963. The book lists two other waycars that also got
Allied trucks: 14415 (1961) and 13554 (1962, removed 1963). This book shows
the (ex- 14415) BN 11117 at East St. Louis, March 8, 1973, with the Allied
trucks in a patch paint job. Since the photo is B&W and there are no other
visible markings, I would guess it was the mineral red scheme. Does anyone
know what scheme it was going into the BN merger?

John

There is also a photo on page 109 of Mike Spoor's Color Guide showing 14151
in May 1959 as Chinese red. As the colour didn't appear until 1958, this
could have been one of the first waycars to give this colour scheme. It is
certainly the earliest such photo I can find. It is also shown on page 101
but this photo is dated 1975.
