I agree that the NB Zephyr is the best candidate.  But the part about the KC 
Zephyr doesn't 
apply.  In my last year in Downers Grove area (1961)  the two trains ran 
separately 
eastbound, at least in summer.  One would go by, and it was a short wait until 
the next 
came flying by.  It was a good show, indeed
