While I was working in 1973 I don't recall any of these cars in particular or
in detail.
Generally speaking a trust plate would stay on a car until the trust was
dissolved and sometimes long after.
Trucks again generally stay under a car for its entire life unless there is a
cause to remove a type of truck from service. Sideframes and bolsters can be
repaired/rebuilt while in shop and put back on the car. Only when they reach
specific wear limits or crack due they need to be relpaced entirely.
Cars are assigned to hide service when they are old and obsolete for any
other service because once in hide service they are useless for any other
service
due to contamination. As little as possible is invested in these cars until
they scrap so cars go into this service in bad shape and only get worse.
