Subject: Pullman Car Assignments

I am working on a feature on Alton/GM&O sleeping car service which
operated from St. Louis. Four of these car lines were St.
Louis-Kansas City joint routes which operated over Burlington tracks
from St. Louis to Mexico, Missouri then over Alton tracks from
Mexico to Kansas City. These Pullman lines were designated as 3042,
3043, 3044, and 3046. Car Line 3043 was a daytime parlor car line
only and Pullman ceased to operate that car on Mar 1, 1930 altho the
car may have continued to operate as a CB&Q company owned car.

I am interested in knowing what specific sleeping cars might have
been assigned to this St. Louis-Kansas City service. Unfortunately,
the timetables of the era simply list "sections, bedrooms, drawing
room..." without any other information. For a while car line 3044
operated via Roodhouse and not on Burlington trackage, but line 3042
survived until Sept 8, 1948, nearly the end of service. For a while
this car/line was also advertised as a St. Louis-San Francisco car
with connections to the Exposition Flyer. Photos of the General
Pershing Zephyr often show one or two heavyweight sleepers in the
otherwise lightweight consist.

Any information is much appreciated.
