    Another option is to use Detail Associates 8 rung ladders, part  # FC6241. 
I use these alot on Q boxcars, especially the ones that don't  come with 8 rung 
ladders like the Intermountain kits. They're pretty  fragile but look nice, I 
cut off the mounting tabs and use small pieces  of styrene to simulate the 
mounting brackets. I also use A-Line style  "A" stirrup steps and glue a small 
rectangle of styrene to them to  simulate the mounting bracket to the sill that 
the Q used on the later  series of XM-32's.
