I know this question isn't technically Q, but since the Q was one of
the pioneers in dieselization, I thought I'd throw this out:

I am looking for someone who could explain some technical/engineering
issues regarding the use of a medium horsepower (300-600 HP) gasoline
powered engine vs. a diesel in similar horsepower range in railroad
applications (i.e. why diesel instead of gasoline). If you have some
engineering knowledge or expertise, I would really like to talk to
you. Please contact me off-list at thommack@yahoo.com to keep this
thread off the CB&Q list.
