I know this question isn't technically Q, but since the Q was one of the pioneers in dieselization, I thought I'd throw this out: I am looking for someone who could explain some technical/engineering issues regarding the use of a medium horsepower (300-600 HP) gasoline powered engine vs. a diesel in similar horsepower range in railroad applications (i.e. why diesel instead of gasoline). If you have some engineering knowledge or expertise, I would really like to talk to you. Please contact me off-list at thommack@yahoo.com to keep this thread off the CB&Q list. Thanks in advance!
