The name "St. Paul Road" never had a corporate imprimatur to my
knowledge, although it was an appellation informally and commonly
used in the industry.I am unaware that it was ever officially
painted on any equipment.
In 1927 or 1928, the CM&StP reorganized as the CMStP&P. At that time,
it also adopted officially the short secondary name of "The
Milwaukee Road", a name which from that date most notably quickly
replaced the "Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul" on all passenger car
letterboards.
