be possible to say either way. These things were not
numbered in any series by themselves.
I can say that there are ex CB&Q and C&S covered hoppers
that were converted to ballast cars still in service, although
again, it would be a matter of checking each car as they
were not numbered in any order.
Would be a good idea if someone sees something in the
field to get the prior number. BN almost always painted it
on the frame.
