Good catch! I didn't notice this. Here's another one:
Check out p. 59 of the Color Guide. There is a shot of CB&Q XM-4B
boxcar 49391 built July 1966 in the green scheme. The picture was
taken in August of 1969, just 3 years after the car was built! And
here is the kicker - the painters used the traditional Burlington
lettering, not the Helvetica font as expected!! And the herald plate
was left on, just painted over!!! So, the unexpected is suddenly very
plausible. I'm going to try my best to get copies of the photos from
Athearn. Very interesting indeed...
