The stokers were added right before WWII. The
"program" lasted a couple of years. The ICC had been
discussing a stoker law and the Q decided to beat them
to the punch. The installation required the frame to
be extended 18 inches and the cab moved back. This
explains why the backhead only extends a short ways
into the cab on O-1A's.
