Can anyone on the list help Eric? I'm not familiar with this at all,
and don't think I've ever seen a photo of any of the rejected paint
schemes. Thanks, Don

Subject: suburban service coaches
In the early 1950s, before adopting the green and brown color scheme for
the rebuilt and air-conditioned suburban service coaches, four of these
new cars were painted in experimental paint schemes and, I believe,
commuters allowed to vote on which they liked best. One of these was the
adopted scheme. Another was green and brown with an uninterrupted brown
windowband. A third was something like the maroon and red of the GM&O,
and the fourth was blue and white, something like CNJ's Blue Comet
scheme.
Do you know of any photos of the three rejected color schemes, either on
the web or in available print publications?
Thank you.
Eric Ellison
