GP9's were very rarely used on Lines East and then only
in thru train service.

In the mid 60's the most common cars at Carnation in Oregon
were the last order of BREX standard refrigerator, the ones
with the plug doors. For those that like the "Return To"
boxes there were a number of those cars marked to return to
Oregon IL.

It is hard to understand why there is not a model of the
modern Fruit Growers design of standard refrigerator. There
were a thousands built at Alexandria, Plattsmouth and possibly
Havelock. Both BREX, FGEX, and WFEX had these cars, the MNX's
from 1800 up were this design, all LLNX's, hundreds of NX cars,
and all FHIX and WHIX cars. A couple, MNX 2389 and WFEX 7900,
were converted to mechanicals. Some of these cars were still in
grain or potato service in the early 80's.

Would not be surprised if these were close enough to a PFE design
that both bases could not be covered.

That's my sermon for today,

Russ
