I have uploaded a new copy of Renascence to the files area. It is "raw" in
that I have not done any color correction or tear/wrinkle/scratch editing.
I was able to make new scans of the original, and this is very close to the
real-world color (when the scanner manual says "don't block the calibration
window" it means "don't block the calibration window"!)
I did some figuring, and realized that by rotating the original 90 degrees
relative to the scanner platen, there was just enough margin to cover the
image in four scans. I hand-stitched this in "Picture Window Pro". It is
about a 1/9 size of what will be the 600-dpi final image. I want to keep
the resolution high so that the printer will ultimately reduce it, thereby
effectively blending any editing artifacts. I have also uploaded a small
cropped sample of the full-resolution 600-dpi scan.
I have yet to try stitching the full-resolution scans.
Best regards,
Randy
