Tom Mack: For servicing steam, Savanna had minimal facilities. Small
enginehouse, refueling, and watering. Mostly it was a 2-6-2 used on a
wayfreight up
to the Ordnance Depot. Road power was serviced and sent on its way. Through
freights from the north dropped traffic heading south down to the Tri-Cities
and Galesburg, then went on their way to Chicago. Diesel-powered freights ran
through without servicing. JN
