Group, A special treat to all you Zephyr fans. The local library in
Hannibal has set up a web site for the MTZ. This was accomplished by
a digitization grant from the Missouri State Library. The library
chose to feature the cristening of the MTZ as an important historical
event in the history of Hannibal. As a result, all of us Q fanatics
are benificiaries of this occurance. There are several shots of the
event and also other railroad related views of the Hannibal area. Of
special interest to me was a shot of the roundhouse in it's first
stage of demolition in the early 50's. There is also a shot of the
MTZ conductor standing by the bas relief of Samuel Clemens on the
tail end of the observation car. Enough rambling, go to
www.hannibal.lib.mo.us and tour the digital exhibit. Happy
hunting, Archie Hayden
