The CZ diners had a very limited pantry capacity because they were
designed to always operate as a married pair with the Coffee Shop
Car, which had a very large pantry designed to supply both cars. This
feature became a well-known Achilles Heel that would and could at
times limit their use on trains other than the CZ.
It also created problems for Amtrak who when using CZ diners in the
early days on the SFZ had to marry them to former SP domes that had
crude but ample storage capacity under their raised floors.
